Travel Domestically in Canada to Save Money

Times are tough, or say they say.

People are losing jobs faster than ever before.

The cost of living, eating, and drinking are taking it's toll on everyone living in Canada.

If you are one of the lucky one's who continue to live and work comfortably in Canada, then vacations are still on your agenda.

Why deprive your family, or yourself from the thrill of travel.

The main thing to consider in these tough times, is how to travel on a budget, while still seeing something unique, exotic, and fun.

Despite rising costs, gasoline is still one of the cheapest liquids you can buy.

So long as you have a road worthy vehicle, drive down the Trans Canada Highway, find an undiscovered lake, river, campground, or city.

In a world continuously growing smaller, Canada is still the Big Chain Supermarket when it comes to shelving space, or in this case, living space.

There is sure to be somewhere you and your family will enjoy.

Check out the Maritimes, a beautiful, European-esque area of Canada.

With buildings, bridges, and cities older than Canada itself.

Canadians have a habit of thinking our history is dull compared to many other countries.

However, with enough research and walking around, you're sure to discover that we too hold a unique piece of western history.

Halifax, Nova Scotia is a fine example of surviving the trials of history.

Halifax has survived wars, fires, explosions, and even pirates.

Walking down the streets of Halifax you'll see the old bricks that were once the road and buildings that continue to house business's.

Perhaps it's time to brush up on those french classes you took in elementary and high school.

Visit Montreal, Quebec. A city synonymous with art, culture, and fine dining.

Canada is unique in that it can continue to prosper with two national languages.

Montreal is the perfect example of this.

A beautiful city, with friendly people.

However, you're experience will be likely improved if you brush up on your "Bonjours" and "Ou est la toilette?

" If you plan on being in Montreal for a long time, I highly recommend looking into "Rosetta Stone.

" It's a great piece of software that will no doubt help you improve your linguistics ability.

If you are able to sneak out of the country for a vacation, I highly encourage you to do so, however, take a look around your own country.

There is surely several areas you have yet to see.

Tips for Travelling to the United States

Travelling to America is a goal that many people in westernised society have.

We have all seen America in the movies and television series, but seeing it in person is always much different.

There are many things to think about before travelling to the United States of America, and the first thing to consider is what you have to do to get over there in the first place.

Recent change to the Visa agreement has been made that most people might not be aware of.

To increase tourism to the US, a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) has been introduced.

This program covers 36 countries around the world. People from these countries can visit the US for 90 days or less without the need of a Visa.

This is not just for tourist, but for business as well, which makes international business far easier.

If you own or operate a small business and you want to extend your client base, you can travel across the US for three months picking up clients and additional business contacts.

If you wish to work or study in the US, then you will need a different kind of Visa.

If you are unsure about what type of Visa to get, use your local search engine to search for your country and the US Visa rights, or talk to somebody at a passport office.

It is better to be safe than sorry, and to make sure you have the right paper work before to travel to the United States.

Traveling and Seeing the Real World !!!!!

Traveling is wonderful.

You see new things, experience new cultures, eat cool foods, and have fun.

I believe it helps open the mind and possible increase creativity as well.

All travel is good, but quite honestly you only see and experience so much when you go on a tour, stay in tourist hotels, and hang out with fellow tourists most of the time.

I'm not knocking tourism at all, and have been a tourist at times, but to really see an area you need to travel rather independently, not with a group of tourists.

Most of the world does not have tourist hotels, but has perfectly fine hotels the locals stay in when they travel.

You won't find starred Michelin restaurants, but plenty of inexpensive and tasty local places to eat.

You might meet a few travelers, but you'll certainly interact with the locals as well.

Communication may not be fully in English, but you'll be amazed how much you can communicate even when there is no or little common language.

Best of all, you will see and experience far more, most likely enjoy it immensely.

Traveling in most of the world is very inexpensive, yes, I said inexpensive.

A week as a tourist in France might cost you two or more thousand dollars per person not including airfare, and I'll add is quite worth it.

For the same price you can quite easily have a blast for a couple of months very easily in many fascinating and perfectly safe areas of the world.

You travel and eat extremely well, stay in comfortable locations, and have a wonderful and enlightening time.

Of course you can travel in France much more cheaply as well.
Now some areas of the world are easier to travel in than others.

A novice traveler probably shouldn't travel sub Saharan Africa for example, although the area is fascinating.

Southeast Asia however is very simple to travel in and one of the more popular areas.

Most of the countries feature easy travel, plenty of accommodations, absolutely great food, and well beaten paths full of other travelers as well.

South America is another area that is wonderful to travel in as in Central America, and a little Spanish goes a long way if you happen to know some.

Traveling is more about being there than moving rapidly in a crazy attempt to see everything.

You never can see everything anyways.

So slow down, take a few weeks or months (yes, you can if plan ahead), and see the world.

Harry travels and fishes extensively all over the world.

Tourism Linking Cultures

The word culture means a lot of things.

It ranges from the culture a child learns at home to the culture of an era.

Many civilizations have risen and gone down the sand of times. Only a few have managed to stand the test of time and get elevated to the status of greatness.

Tourism is an international phenomenon.

This has become an industry only in recent times thanks to man's never ending thirst for travel.

Be it for business or pleasure, travel and tourism are here to stay and has achieved the status of the largest job provider.

Kerala is a unique destination which has gained international repute thanks to it rich diversity in places of natural beauty.

The depth of Kerala's cultural heritage has significantly strengthened tourism in the state.

The theme for this year's Tourism Day which is celebrated every year on September 27th is 'Tourism linking Cultures'.

This theme is particularly true in the Kerala scenario.

There is no doubt that the super brand Kerala -'God's own country' has received recognition far and wide as a much sought after' must see place in a life time'.

Cultural tourism will further add to these achievements by linking people across the globe.

With the term global village becoming a reality, cultural exchanges have resulted in sharing of ideas, feeling and creating camaraderie among nations.

In this sense the concept of linking cultures through tourism is of immense importance
It can be seen that Kashmir is slowly recovering from the menace of terrorism through its tourism based campaign.

Even people who were terrorists have thrown away their association with terrorism and have shifted to tourism to earn a livelihood.

The fact that Rajasthan has joined hands with Kerala in promoting tourism through a win-win situation is shining example.

This is evident in the catch word which Rajasthan is using to promote tourism - "Kerala is God's own country but God holidays in Rajasthan".

Thus in both the national and international scenario, Kerala stands to benefit through tourism, using cultural interactions.

In this era of technology based exchanges, understanding other cultures is of immense importance. This will help in spreading the message of brotherhood and concern for our fellow beings.

Tourism being international in nature is an ideal medium to understand other cultures.

It is understood that cultural tourism is one of the largest global tourism markets.

This is also the one of the fastest growing branch in global tourism scenario.

Even in this era of technology, culture and other creative forms are finding global acceptance.

They are being used in a large scale to promote destinations by increasing their attraction and competitive value.

Even though there is a line of though which alleges that tourism is destroying culture, it goes without saying that many art forms in Kerala like Kathakali and even ritual art forms such as theyaam have been given a shot in the arm through tourism affiliations.

It can be seen that many locations are developing their tangible and intangible cultural assets.

This is being used to develop a marketing edge in face of cut throat competition.

It also lends a local flavour to tourism products in these times when globalization is threatening to engulf everything.

We can hope that this year's world tourism day message will give the right impetus in breaking down barriers among nations and cultures and foster tolerance, respect and mutual understanding.

In these troubled times and times when the world peace is at stake and often at the verge of war and divide, these values represent the stepping stones towards a more peaceful future.

The year 2010 saw 940 million tourists crossing international borders.

There has never been so much flow of tourist in recent times when so many people been to so many places, nor been so exposed to other cultures. It goes without saying that this has to continue.

This interaction between individuals, communities, and their diverse cultures, leads to tolerance, respect and mutual understanding - the building blocks for a more peaceful world.

Kerala will stand to gain a lot by following this message of peace, through cultural linkages.

Kerala tourism has gone from strength to strength and will march forward by imbibing this message of brotherhood and mutual co-operation.

A third world war hangs like a sword of Damocles above our heads.

5. Royal Ontario Museum
6. Art Gallery of Ontario

Medical Tourism in India - Save Money and Get a Free Holiday!

Medical tourism is the provision of competitively priced private medical care in collaboration with the tourism industry.

Patients can travel to India for surgery and other forms of healthcare and pay less than patients who stay in their own country.

Other highly attractive benefits include: The opportunity for patients to avoid long waiting lists and with the savings they make, get a holiday included in the package.

Medical tourists are an expanding group and one of the leaders in the field is India.
The Growth of Medical Tourism in India

India's healthcare industry is already growing at 30 per cent annually.

The area has shown such growth potential that Indian finance minister Jaswant Singh, called recently for India to become a "global health destination." His enthusiasm for making medical tourism in India a major foreign exchange revenue earner has broad based support among local government and industry.

The ministry of tourism has shown interest, but so to have the various state tourism boards and the private sector consisting of travel agents, tour operators and hotel companies.

All are looking at healthcare and medical tourism in India as an area with tremendous growth potential.

A newspaper article recently in "India Abroad," showed the potential for medical tourism, when it outlined a deal, where India could earn more than $1 billion annually and creates 40 million new jobs by sub-contracting work from the British National Health Service.

The deal would have broad appeal.

It would slash waiting times dramatically in the UK and create huge savings in time and money for patients.

The potential for medical tourism in India from the US and UK looks set for major growth, as India becomes a preferred destination for medical tourists from these countries.
Medical Tourism Competition

As more and more patients from nations with high Medicare costs look for medical tourism options, India has competition namely from Thailand, Singapore and other Asian countries.

They have good hospitals, attractive climates and are established tourist destinations. While these countries with their advanced medical facilities and medical tourism options have been drawing overseas healthcare traffic, India is and looks set to, expand at a faster rate.
India's World Class Healthcare Facilities

Indian corporate hospitals are comparable to hospitals anywhere in the world. In fact, India offers world-class medical facilities that are comparable with the US or UK.

There is already a high concentration of expatriate Indian medical staff working in the US and UK, as well as many other countries.

This gives patients confidence in the healthcare offered by India generally as they are already used to the expertise and professionalism of Indian medical staff.

This is a major, but often overlooked factor in the growth of medical tourism in India.
Medical Tourism Costs
Medical tourism in India's main appeal is low-cost treatment.

Most estimates claim treatment costs in India start at around a tenth of the price of comparable treatment in the US or UK and cover a wide spectrum of areas from, cosmetic surgery and major operations, to preventative screening.

Medical Tourism in India and the Holiday of a Lifetime
Of course, you can get hugely reduced healthcare in India, but medical tourists can also enjoy a holiday in a country that has a huge diversity of holiday options, from the beaches of Goa, to the mighty Himalayas, diverse wildlife and thousands of years of culture.

In conclusion, medical tourism in India is here to stay and looks set for spectacular growth.

Summer Travel - Healthy Hotels

Summer time is upon us. Will you travel with your family?

Business travel scheduled during the sizzling summer? What hotels are doing the right things for their patrons?

Within the last few years, numbers of hotels that are providing lighter options for its patrons has risen.

Among them, Starwood Hotels, (whose brands include Sheraton, Westin and W) reported it was eliminating all trans fat at its 400 plus hotels in North America and the Caribbean.

Similarly, Marriott, Loews, Hampton's, Red Lion and Carlson, had plans to take out trans-fats from all foods at all or most of their hotels.

Around the same time, the Hyatt introduced its Stay Fit® Menu for the room service at all North American hotels.

This menu emphasizes fresh, locally grown ingredients.

Hyatt's Stay Fit® menu features appetizers such as: apple, endive and feta cheese salad; and white bean and tomato soup.

Entrées include acorn squash ravioli and soba noodles with grilled tofu.

Candlewood Suites is offering fruit, and a low fat, low carbohydrate breakfast choices such as cereal and yogurt as a "grab and go" option.

Wyndham's "Field's and Sun" breakfasts include a cereal and yogurt bar, fresh fruit and fat free muffins.

Radisson's "Tasteful Choices" menu emphasizes low calorie, low fat and low carbohydrate items. Loews offers breakfast items as tofu omelets, turkey based breakfast meats and vegetarian frittatas.

Holiday Inn's Kem restaurants have changed their menus in order to cater to the demands for fresh and grilled food items.

The restaurants have added more salads, a grilled or steamed vegetable plate and grilled salmon and have removed comfort foods like meatloaf and fried chicken.

The Hilton worked with chefs and nutritional experts to create its chain wide Eat Right® menu that features delicious, L.E.A.N. choices.

Shortlist of hotels taking affirmative action towards healthier choices:
Starwood Hotels - including Sheraton Westin and W
Hilton Marriott
Loews Hamptons
Red Lion Carlson
Hyatt Candlewood Suites
Wyndham Radisson
Loews Holiday Inn
To expand a little, let's look a bit closer to some of these hotels.

It's surprisingly difficult to find this information on some of the hotel websites. Nevertheless, there are some good things going on in several hotel brands.

Kimpton's - Kimpton's has something they call an in-room Mind.Body.Spa. As the name implies, it's all in your room.

You can get massages with all organic products, 24-hour on-demand Pilates, and meditation channels on your TV. They also have yoga supplies you can borrow.

The mini-bars are stocked with organic food and drinks.

Hilton - The Hilton Chain has been a forerunner in offering more healthful options.

Working with professional chefs and even culinary institutes, they created their signature Eat Right® Menu. A lot of thought was put into making this menu both delicious, and healthy. We've already mentioned their Follow your Color breakfast menu. These are all very good steps and offerings for the L.E.A.N. business traveler.

Hyatt Regency - This chain has gone above and beyond creating both their signature StayFit @ Hyatt program, and the StayFit® Cuisine.

The fitness program includes on-demand yoga DVDs, walking or running routes, and reportedly upgraded fitness equipment.

Their dedication to helping guests be fit includes a 24-hour fitness concierge service whereby you can get workout clothes, and even armbands with GPS and heart rate monitors.

The StayFit® menu offers healthy options such as steel-cut oatmeal and has actively sought to make meals tasty and wholesome.

Westin - The Westin can't be left out of the trend towards wellness.

They are providing for health-minded guests.

They, too, are offering in-room libraries of both fitness magazines and DVDs.

They will put a treadmill or stationary bike in your room, and their exercise rooms are state-of-the-art. Menu wise, the Westin puts emphasis on so-called superfoods - those high in omegas and anti-oxidants, like green tea infused salmon.

Cambria - Cambria Suites are rising up in the ranks of hotels catering to travelers seeking healthier options.

Their baby steps include banishing deep-fried foods from their menu and building 2,500-square-foot fitness and pool areas.

Rooms are stocked with nice additions, such as green tea.

As you can see, hotels are making marked efforts to make changes in a variety of areas.

For more information about this area are found in the book  HERE

If in doubt, call the hotel. In the end it should be possible to find a hotel that has every amenity you desire, including healthier food and environment.

The California Travel and Tourism Commission is a Great Touristic Resource

It has been said that those who are considering vacation travel to the great, golden state of California really have an underlying desire to "be Californians," even if it's only for the brief time that they are vacationing there.

As a result, more and more potential California vacationers are looking to the state's completely redesigned travel and tourism website to help them learn all about becoming a "temporary Californian."

The state of California has an official department, or commission, that is structured to help promote and encourage people to travel throughout the vast state to take in all of the sights and wonders of the many tourist attraction destinations.

It is the California Travel and Tourism Commission, or CTTC, which began promoting the idea of calling vacation travel visitors "Honorary Californians."

The essential idea of this nomenclature is to encourage tourists to do much more than just visit the various tourist destinations.

Instead, the California Travel and Tourism Commission wants vacationers to embrace the full experience of California's easygoing, laid-back lifestyle and soak up the culture just like a local.

The CTTC has put together an extensive website.

The impressive online presence is an attempt to compete aggressively for the attention of those planning to travel and who are looking for vacation ideas, for the ideal family vacation and great tourist destinations.

They have provided an online tourism and travel guide that is intended to help potential visitors to the state to fall in love with the destination even before they arrive.

The CTTC website has gone a long way in accomplishing this goal by giving the website visitor a great deal of information about the "must see" tourist attraction options, as well as highlighting the many world renowned landmarks around the state.

And, if that were not enough, there is also extensive revelations about "inside scoops" that further give people insights about where to go and what to see to make the vacation travel visitor feel even more connected and like a Californian, honorary or not.

And, true to the very image of style, fun and uniqueness, the state's website provides all of this information, and much more, in a way that is visually appealing, engaging, and fun.

This approach certainly helps to set the stage for the California experience and helps to draw people in and retain their attention.

In the highly competitive world of travel tourism, this is very important and the consensus is that the CTTC has done a very good job at providing a compelling tourist guide.

From where to gingerly sip a trendy drink at a casual Los Angeles hideaway, to catching the rays on a sun-baked San Diego beach, to soaking up the high life at a posh Napa Valley spa, the California

Travel and Tourism Commission's website, at "Visit California", has captured and cataloged the local California hotspots and revealed hidden state treasures. For travelers who like to pre-plan their itinerary, the site even offers an extensive menu of trip ideas, complete with Google maps.

Canada's Wonderland - Single Parent Holidays

    Canada's Wonderland

    "This place is colossal!"

Matthew, at eight years old loves words like "colossal" - his eyes lit up like fireworks when we pulled off the highway and on to surface streets and he first saw the tops of the highest roller coasters at Canada's Wonderland on the horizon.

I too felt a little giddy as I watched the train of coaster cars zip over the top of a loop - upside down.

The first of our single parent holidays was about to get started!

After paying the $20.00 parking fee, you can't help to feel the kid inside when you see this place for the first time.

Excitement is literally in the air in the city of Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.

The 330 acres of Vaughan land devoted to this magical place are jam packed with 17 coasters (more than any other park outside the US, second most in the world), 20 acres of Water Park, and two kids areas known as KidZville and Planet Snoopy.

KidZville is geared to the younger crowd with ride height requirements from 36 inches up, where Planet Snoopy usually requires a rider's height in the 46 inch range, however both offer hours of entertainment for the single parent holidays.

Touting the accomplishment of "most visiting amusement park in North America", Canada's Wonderland is very, very busy.

As tested with a two year old and an eight year old, average wait time for kiddie rides was six minutes and adult rides was 29 minutes on the sunny and warm Friday that we attended.

As a Dad and kids team, we opted to rent the available stroller from the front gate area for $15 plus $5 deposit and it made life a bit easier.

Of course no food or drink is allowed in so we had to spend money at the large number of food and drink options in the park.

Baby change tables are available in every rest area we visited and most restaurants were happy to warm up bottles for us, however there are no baby care providers on site to operate as a daycare for babies while the parents take in a few of the world renowned rollercoasters.
    Location

Canada's Wonderland is on the east side of Highway 400 between Rutherford Road (Exit 33) and Major Mackenzie Drive (Exit 35), 13 km (8.1 mi) north of Highway 401, 6 km (4 mi) north of Highway 407 and 64 km (40 mi) south of Barrie. Our Garmin was able to get us there by just entering "Wonderland".
    Prices

Canada's Wonderland tickets are about $60 at the gate or $40 advanced.

They can be printed at their website.
Overall we spent about $300 for our Single Parent Holiday at Canada's Wonderland which included our day at the park and a stay in a local hotel, the Vaughan Holiday Inn.
    Conclusion

Having been to a few other Amusement Parks, if posed the choice in the future we would likely go to Cedar Point the next time around as it was a little more kid friendly and felt like we walked a lot less to get from place to place.

Ease of use hurt this destination a little due to its shear size and popularity.

It is an amazing and very magical place however, so a final score received:
    • Cost per adult: $40 advanced, $60 at the gate
    • Cost per child over 3: $40 advanced, $60 at the gate
    • Kid friendly: Yes
    • Amount of walking: Large
    • Food Variety: Good
    • Childcare available: No
    • Structure to make single parenting easy: No

Choosing Between the Hottest and Cheapest Travel Hotels

Waves upon waves of people go to the Caribbean islands during the holiday season in order to enjoy a warm, tropical escape from the frigid winter months.

It is one of the most fashionable vacation hotspots in the world because of its reputation of exclusivity, luxury and breathtaking beauty.

In the Caribbean, Barbados travel hotels are the most opulent and exclusive, hence the most expensive ones.

Nonetheless, these lodgings remain to be the most popular on the island paradise.

The main challenges of planning a getaway in this prime area is allocating a strict budget and choosing the right accommodation.

There are usually two trends in choosing a place to stay in this tropical paradise and they are between the 'hottest' and cheapest ones.

Demographics tend to dictate these trends.

For example, the wealthier demographics go for the best and trendiest of the lot, while the rest simply want the best value for their money.

Either way, this article will feature the hottest and newest, and as well as the cheapest hotels in the Caribbean.

    The Hottest and Newest Hotels
First is the Seven Stars Resort located in Turks and Caicos.

Believe it or not, but the smallest room in this place, which is a one-bedroom studio, is an overwhelming 620 square feet.

Each every room is spacious enough to accommodate a working kitchen.

If cooking is not what the visitor has in mind, the resort's restaurant called the La Pergola offers a wide variety of Caribbean and International cuisines.

Second is the Firefly Hotel located in tiny Bequia.

It is significantly smaller, featuring only eight rooms.

However, the resort overlooks 20 acres of groves and plantations.

Trekking through the property will lead visitors towards a secluded white beach that is known for the perfect snorkeling experience.

Third is the La Concha-the classic Puerto Rican escape.

It was recently reopened after a $220 million renovation which gave the property a more modern, soothing, and enjoyable look and feel.

Visitors can choose one of the 248 guest rooms, each of which offers a gorgeous ocean view. Its poolside restaurant, Perla, boasts of contemporary American seafood dishes, as well as a 4,000-bottle wine cellar.

    The Cheapest Hotels
First is the Parrot Cay resort in Turks and Caicos.

Due to the economic crisis, bookings have slumped to a 50 percent decrease in scheduled flights.

The upside to this misfortune is that the property is striving to entice tourists and guests with deals such as its "7 to 5" offer which features free two nights with a five-night stay.
    Second is the Rockhouse Hotel.

This has been a longtime secret among budget minded travelers. Situated in Negril, it is carved into a pocketed stone cliff on the western edge of the island.

The hotel villas overlook Pristine Bay and feature a 60-foot horizon swimming pool.

The reasonable rates include breakfast and French-inspired dinners.
Third is the Hotel Doña Elvira in the Dominican Republic.

This 16th century colonial mansion has a palm-shaded pool and is located conveniently near the Old Santo Domingo.

It continues to be a popular choice amongst the different tourists because aside from its classy, character-filled aesthetics, its services, amenities and other facilities fit well within a tight budget.

When choosing the accommodations during a vacation, it is vital to make decisions based on preference and whether or not the choice is appropriate for the people in the traveling party.

There are Barbados Travel hotels that are more suitable for cheaper stays, families, couples, business meetings and so on.

The key is to make a thorough comparison of all the choices to guarantee that the best hotel is chosen, whether or not it is one of the hottest or cheapest ones.

The Importance of Travel and Tourism

In countries around the world, the importance of travel and tourism for national economies is evident from the contributions the sector makes.

Taken as a whole, this industry employs over 100 million people directly and a similar number in related jobs, contributing a whopping 9 percent of global GDP, or $6 trillion.

A closer look at the statistics from institutions such as the World Economic Forum also reveals that 10 percent of all jobs globally are in this sector, and there are logical explanations why certain countries have succeeded.

Analysis reveals that Europe is in the lead in travel and tourism, and all the top ten countries are from the region. Switzerland leads the pack for a number of reasons.

Firstly, its infrastructure is second to none and facilities related to the sector are top notch, including staff.

Secondly, the country has a reputation as having the best hotel management schools in the world.

Thirdly, Switzerland's environmental policies are of a very high standard, heavy emphasis being placed on sustainability.

This forward thinking has been emulated by countries such as Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Investment in the travel and tourism sector cannot be overemphasized, and in Africa, this is clearly evident in a number of countries.

The ratio of investment in the industry to GDP in Seychelles is the second highest in the world, and in Kenya, high government spending on destination marketing has seen the industry grow to be the top foreign exchange earner.

This continued investment suggests that the industry continues to develop and has not reached stagnation.

In essence, this is an immensely important industry and any country that wants to boost its economy must seriously consider high investment in the sector, particularly since even in times of recession, job growth is seen to be on the rise and can be an attractive argument to increase investment.

Many aspects of a country can set it apart, making travel and tourism a very viable option; the lifestyle of the people, their traditions and customs, culinary culture, wildlife, landmarks, and more that can be said to be truly unique.

After all, traveling is all about new experiences, and as long as mankind thirsts for these new experiences, this industry will continue to grow, and no doubt countries should take advantage of the huge and enormous potential within their shores that is unlimited in every respect.
